Tommy Toy Fund
Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply?
The parent, grandparent or foster parent who has custody of the child or children may apply for Christmas presents for the children who reside with them if the family meets the income guideline. In the case of joint custody, only one parent may apply.
What ages are
served?
Children from birth through 12 years of age are eligible if the family meets the income guidelines.
What are the
income guidelines?
The income guide is the federally established rate of 185% of poverty. This is the same rate that is used for the WIC program. Click for PDF of income guidelines.
What if there are
more than four (4) children in the household?
The agency employee who is assisting the client will need to complete two forms. You cannot list more than 4 children on one form.
What if a child is
over 12 chronologically, but developmentally is significantly below 12?
When submitting the child’s name and age, please list SN for Special Needs after the child’s name. For age list the developmental age of the child so that appropriate gifts can be selected.
My client does not
yet have a social security number.
If she has other identification such as a passport from another country, you can use the last four digits of that ID number. After encouraging her to apply for social security as soon as possible, please use the code 9999.
Confidentiality
limits my client’s willingness to share his/her social security number.
As described above, simply insert 9999.
What is required
on the form?
The first and last name of the adult submitting the application must be accurate based on ID presented to the agency employee. This is critical to prevent duplication. Furthermore, the name, age and gender of each child must be included.
How do I list a
child who is not yet one year of age?
Please enter infant in decimal format. (e.g. as .5 or .7) Additional information can be provided in Notes.
What if someone
other than the applicant is expected to pick up the toys?
Please say in Notes who is permitted to get the toys. Only the custodial parent will be given the toys on the day of distribution unless this is noted ahead of time.
What should the
client bring to the distribution centers in order to pick up toys?
The client should bring a copy of the receipt and photo ID.
How does the
client get a receipt?
When the agency worker has completed the form, and submitted the data by clicking on the “Add” button, please print the resulting page and give it to the client.
What if I realize
I made a mistake after hitting Submit?
You can complete another form, noting in the NOTES section that this is the correct information and the previous submission had one or more errors.
